Frequently asked questions
What condition is the Nextant 400XTi, 2017 in: hours and cycles?
A 2017 aircraft, s/n RK-517. 6,608 flight hours over 3,981 cycles — about 730 hours a year, well below the market average of 350–450. Cabin — 8 seats. Average sector — 1.7 h: typical short business legs. There is no flight attendant or hot meal service — the cabin is compact. There is no in-flight baggage access — bags are loaded on the ground. How much does the Nextant 400XTi, 2017 cost and what are the ownership costs?
The average pre-owned price for the model is $2.5M. Running costs at 300–400 h/year — about $1.58M/year, or $3,948 per flight hour. The price of a specific aircraft depends on year, hours flown and engine-programme status. Send us a request — we'll prepare options, calculate running costs and analyse the best fit for your task.
What is the Nextant 400XTi and why is it interesting?
Nextant invented business-jet remanufacturing: the company takes a Beechjet 400A/XP airframe, fits new Williams FJ44-3AP engines, Rockwell Collins Pro Line 21 avionics and a new cabin — and delivers effectively a new 400XTi light jet with a warranty. Range grew to 3,700 km (+50% over the original Beechjet), fuel burn fell a third, and the price is half that of a new rival. How much does the Nextant 400XTi cost and what does operation cost?
On the pre-owned market the 400XTi is offered at $2.2–3M — the price of a good turboprop at a jet speed of 830 km/h. Direct costs are about $1,800–2,000 an hour, with the FJ44 engines covered by the TAP Blue programme. By comparison, a new light jet with the same range costs $9–12M. It is one of the best price/speed offers in the light class. Send us a request — we'll prepare options, calculate running costs and analyse the best fit for your task.
How reliable is the Nextant platform and what about parts?
The 400XTi's basis is the Beechjet/Hawker 400, an airframe rated for the T-1 Jayhawk military programme (the US Air Force flew millions of hours on it). Engines and avionics are production Williams and Collins components with global support. The remanufacturing itself is FAA-certified. Its weak point is a small fleet (~70 aircraft), so specific airframe parts take longer to find than for a Citation. Which country is Nextant from, how old is the marque and how many built?
Nextant Aerospace is an American company from Cleveland, Ohio, founded in 2007. A pioneer of business-jet remanufacturing: on the Beechjet/Hawker 400 airframe it creates effectively a new 400XTi. About 80 aircraft have been built under this programme. Send us a request — we'll prepare options, calculate running costs and analyse the best fit for your task.
What routes and tasks suit light jets?
The light jet is the most in-demand class of business aviation for 2–4-hour legs: Geneva–Dubai, London–Athens, Vienna–London. A range of 3,700–4,000 km covers 80% of real business routes across Europe, the Middle East and the CIS. The class keeps access to short strips from 1,200 m and a reasonable hourly price — the sweet spot between VLJ and midsize. Send us a request — we'll prepare options, calculate running costs and analyse the best fit for your task.
How many passengers and how much baggage does a light jet take?
The typical layout is 6–8 seats, the maximum up to 10 (Phenom 300E). A comfortable long-leg load is 4–6 people. Holds take 0.9–1.9 m³: 6–8 suitcases plus hand luggage, and the CJ4 and Phenom 300 fit skis and golf bags. A full cabin and full tanks are not available at once — with eight passengers, range falls by about a quarter. Send us a request — we'll prepare options, calculate running costs and analyse the best fit for your task.
How does a light jet differ from neighbouring classes?
From a VLJ it is set apart by an extra 1,000–1,500 km of range, a full lavatory and a hold twice as large; from a midsize by price: an hour is $1,500–2,500 cheaper, but the cabin is lower (no standing) and there is no separate crew area. The choice: 2–4 hours for four — light; 5+ hours, 8+ people or a stand-up cabin needed — midsize. Send us a request — we'll prepare options, calculate running costs and analyse the best fit for your task.
How much does a light jet cost on the pre-owned market?
The range is wide: Learjet 40XR/45XR $2–3.5M, Nextant 400XTi $2.2–3M, 2000s CJ2+/CJ3 $3.5–6M, decade-old CJ3+ and Phenom 300 $6.5–9M, fresh Phenom 300E and CJ4 Gen 2 $9–12.5M. Three factors decide: engines on a programme or 'bare' (a difference up to $1.5M), avionics meeting current requirements, and a documented maintenance history. How does a deal work: stages and timeline from deposit to handover?
The standard path takes 6–10 weeks. Step 1: a letter of intent (LOI) with price and terms — 3–5 days. Step 2: a 5–10% deposit into escrow and signing of the purchase agreement. Step 3: a pre-purchase inspection — 1–3 weeks. Step 4: rectification of findings and price adjustment. Step 5: closing — simultaneous transfer of funds, title and risk, technical acceptance and ferry of the aircraft.
What is a pre-purchase inspection and who pays for it?
A pre-purchase inspection (PPI) is an independent check at a certified centre: airframe, engines, corrosion, records and compliance with airworthiness directives. It takes from 3 days on a turboprop to 2–3 weeks on a heavy jet and costs $15–100K — paid by the buyer. By market practice the seller pays to rectify airworthiness-affecting defects. A seller refusing a PPI is grounds to walk away.
