It can carry unlimited luggage, skis, and equipment, and can land on unprepared sites in the mountains and taiga. It is a classic for corporate transportation to hunting, fishing, and remote sites.

The main advantage is the close proximity of service: repair plants and spare parts warehouses operate in Russia and Kazakhstan, maintenance procedures do not require transporting the helicopter abroad, and the service life of the Mi-8's components has been proven by decades of use in air ambulances, oil and gas, and the military. The Ansat is certified for high-altitude use, and its PW207K engines are serviced according to international standards.

A new Ansat with a VIP configuration costs approximately 3.5–4.5 million rubles—30–40.1 million rubles less than a comparable Western twin-engine helicopter. A Mi-171 with a cabin configuration costs 12–15 million rubles, while a Western equivalent with the same capacity starts at 20 million rubles. The Mi-8's operating hour is also cheaper due to inexpensive spare parts and the availability of specialists in the region.
