AutoFlight is an eVTOL developer headquartered in Shanghai with a European engineering center in Augsburg, Germany. Founded in 2016 by serial entrepreneur Tian Yu, the company chose a pragmatic sequence almost no competitor has followed: certify and launch the cargo version first, accumulate real flight hours, and only then bring the passenger variant to market. The approach is already paying off.
Prosperity and CarryAll
The passenger Prosperity is a five-seat (pilot plus four passengers) lift-plus-cruise design: dedicated lift rotors handle vertical takeoff while separate cruise propellers drive horizontal flight. Cruise speed is around 200 km/h and the stated range of up to 250 km is among the best in the class. The cargo variant, CarryAll, has already received its CAAC type certificate and is operating commercially in China — its credits include a demonstration flight across the Pearl River Delta from Shenzhen to Zhuhai. The passenger type certificate is expected in 2026.
Position in the market
Through the certified CarryAll, the AutoFlight platform is accumulating real commercial hours faster than most Western rivals still in flight test. For logistics operators it is already a working tool: deliveries to islands, offshore platforms and mountain sites — anywhere a helicopter hour is too expensive. For Central Asia, cargo missions look like the shortest path to practical eVTOL use: fewer regulatory barriers, clear economics, measurable results.
The engineering choices favor reliability: no component changes geometry in flight, and fewer moving parts mean fewer failure scenarios and a simpler certification case. Swappable battery packs keep the aircraft flying almost continuously — a key advantage over fixed-battery rivals in high-tempo commercial work. At home, AutoFlight also benefits from China's state-backed 'low-altitude economy' policy, with subsidies, dedicated corridors and government orders accelerating the program, while demonstration flights in Japan and the Middle East and an EASA application signal export ambitions.
