Archer Aviation is a Californian electric air-taxi developer, founded in 2018 and listed on the NYSE under the ticker ACHR. Among public eVTOL companies Archer stands out for its industrial partnerships: series production is being built together with automotive group Stellantis, and United Airlines has placed a conditional order for hundreds of aircraft.
Midnight: built for short urban hops
The company's single model, Midnight, carries a pilot and four passengers on twelve electric motors, six of them tilting. Cruise speed is about 240 km/h and working range around 160 km, but the core idea lies elsewhere: rapid recharging between back-to-back 20–50 km hops. This is the airport-to-downtown format, where Midnight replaces an hour and a half in traffic with a twelve-minute flight. Archer's own factory in Covington, Georgia is designed to build hundreds of aircraft per year.
Certification and the UAE launch
Archer has closed Phase 3 of FAA type certification, with final testing ahead. Notably, the company plans its commercial debut not in the US but in Abu Dhabi, from the third quarter of 2026, with local operating partners. Together with Joby launching in Dubai, this makes the UAE the world's first market with two operating air-taxi providers — and the closest place to Central Asia where eVTOLs can be seen in real commercial service.
The Stellantis partnership is a bet on automotive production culture: conveyor assembly, cost control and output rates unreachable for traditional aerospace. The business model is built on utilization — short legs, fast charging, dozens of flights per aircraft per day — with a target seat price on city-airport routes comparable to premium ride-hailing while saving an hour of time. A defense line developed with Anduril adds a second source of revenue and flight hours while the passenger market matures, and launch agreements in Indonesia and Korea are widening the map faster than most competitors.
For the CIS region Archer is a near-future story with a clear trajectory: prove the model in the Emirates, then expand to markets with solvent demand. JetHunter tracks the program, advises on certification status and takes preliminary inquiries from customers considering eVTOL projects in the region — from corporate shuttles to tourism routes. We monitor each certification phase and the Abu Dhabi launch metrics — load factors, turnaround times, real seat pricing — and translate them into a business case for operators in our region, so that by the time Midnight reaches export markets you are negotiating from preparation rather than catching up.
