The SBJ is the business version of the Superjet 100 regional jet: a 60 m² cabin with 19–23 seats, a bedroom, a conference room, and a full-size galley. With additional fuel tanks, the range reaches 7,200 km—Moscow–Vladivostok or Almaty–London nonstop. Essentially, it's a ACJ/BBJ business jet, but with the price of a regional jet.

A VIP-configured SBJ costs $35–50 million rubles, compared to $90–130 million rubles for a new ACJ TwoTwenty or BBJ 737 MAX—a two- to three-fold difference with comparable cabin space. An hour of operation is also significantly cheaper due to lower fuel consumption and the availability of a technical base. The tradeoff is a shorter range and a relatively new service network outside the CIS.

For companies and families flying in groups of 10–20 people on routes within the CIS, to Asia, and the Middle East: delegations, executive shifts, and sports teams. For these types of missions, the SBJ replaces two large business jets, and service in Russia and Kazakhstan eliminates dependence on overseas hubs. For regular nonstop flights to the US, the class is not the same—the BBJ/ACJ or Global are needed.

Sukhoi is a Russian design bureau founded in 1939. The business version of the SBJ is based on the Superjet 100 regional jet (approximately 230 aircraft of this family have been produced). It is the only business jet with a full production and support cycle in Russia.

Service and spare parts are available in Russia and Kazakhstan without currency or logistics risks—a sanctions-resistant solution for the CIS. A young service network outside the region is a compromise compared to the ACJ/BBJ.

The airframe and systems are covered by a factory warranty, and the SaM146 engines are covered by the manufacturer's program. A full support cycle in Russia ensures predictable service for operators in the region.

The SBJ is built to order, with delivery times and VIP configurations negotiated individually with the manufacturer. Faster delivery is available on the used market.

A new SBJ in VIP configuration costs $35–50 million versus $90–130 million for the new ACJ TwoTwenty/BBJ 737 MAX with comparable cabin space; secondary aircraft start at $30 million. An hour of operation is also significantly cheaper than Western airliners.
